We investigate and analyse the business, market and user dimensions of an idea. We identify the purpose for the product, ‘the why’, and then build a clear picture defining the right product configuration to achieve the company’s purpose. The outcome of this stage is a clear definition of user, market, product and roadmap requirements as the start point and foundation for product development.
Based on clear user, market and product requirement inputs, we develop system architectures, specifications and a project development path. Research and risk analysis is undertaken to identify key challenges and manage key trade-offs and risks.
We generate aesthetic, engineering and technology concepts for initial evaluation. Illustrations, mock-ups and proof of principle prototypes are then developed to test initial concept directions and assumptions. Concept demonstrator prototypes are developed to bring together the various systems into one to evaluate how a complete product may work and start to evaluate various dimensions including human factors, usability, performance, technologies, materials and possible manufacturing scenarios.
We refine and engineer all of a product’s technical systems including mechanical, electronic and firmware systems. We evaluate potential system, product or process failures and design for testing, assembly and detail for manufacturing. Pre-production alpha prototypes are developed and iterated until the desired performance is achieved.
We develop test plans and support verification activities against engineering specifications or undertake fault analysis when required. These activities ensure the product being developed meets the product requirements defined at the start of the program and achieves the required quality and safety standards.
We develop full manufacturing documentation and support vendor qualification and selection to facilitate smooth transfer to pre-production, pilot, volume or turnkey production. This applies to high and low volume scenarios. We manage tooling, early production parts, assemblies and refinement until all processes and issues have been fully developed and signed off for continuous manufacture.
